As a child I can remember playing chase, sometimes referred to as tag. Whoever was “it” had to tag everyone else. You had to run and run until you caught the other players. You were in constant pursuit until the last person was tagged and then there was such satisfaction knowing you got everyone.
In life everyone is busy chasing something. It may be a job, money, a new home, new vehicle or a dream vacation. People are in pursuit of things to bring contentment, satisfaction and security. There is nothing wrong with pursuing the best for us and our families as long as it is done with the correct heart and mind.
But more than chasing physical things that will pass away, we should be in pursuit of spiritual things. We should be chasing after the Lord with all of our heart. Chasing after Him is eternal and not temporary.
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
It is only when we are chasing after God that we can truly know the contentment, satisfaction and security that comes from Him. When we are in pursuit of God then we begin to know Him more intimately and understand His love for us. We will have that unexplainable peace, joy and hope that only comes from Him.
Today I would ask, what are chasing after? Are you chasing a dream or chasing the Lord? Does what you are chasing have eternal or temporal benefits? Do you have the feeling of contentment, satisfaction and security?
Nothing on this earth will be as satisfying as your relationship with Christ. Chase Him.
