Triumph Over Defeat

We went to Savannah, Georgia last year. While we were there, I learned so much history, which was never my best subject, but I do appreciate it now. Savannah is a beautiful city with some magnificent history. People come from everywhere to visit this great and historical city.

Savannah had to overcome hardship and obstacles to be what it is today. Over the past few centuries, it has endured the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, slavery, fires and disease. Without fortitude, determination, endurance and perseverance, Savannah would not be what it is today.

Our Christian Walk is a lot like this. We face storms, fatigue, challenges, diseases and wars in our everyday life. If we aren’t careful, we can be overtaken by these things. It is easy to give up and become despondent, discouraged, downtrodden and hopeless. It is so easy to allow our past regrets, failures and shame to overshadow what God is purposing.

However, the triumph comes after we have persevered and endured. As we press on and keep going our story becomes more beautiful in Christ. God is writing your story day by day. He wants your story to be one of triumph and beauty, not one of defeat.

So today, what is your story that God is writing? Have you given up? Have you reached the point of despondency? Let me encourage you, God is still writing. He is still purposing. He is still working.

Savannah had to pull itself up and out of the ruins to become a beautiful city with a story of overcoming obstacles. Today may be hard, but let me encourage you to press on, one prayer, one mustard seed of faith, and one day at a time. God stories are the best stories. If you’re reading this, then your story is not over. Don’t give up. He will make beauty from ashes.

To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;

That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” Isaiah 61:3

Fun fact: This was taken in March 1, 2025. It is on a building in Waco at the famous Silos. Your story is worth telling!
