Rest in Him

Today when I opened my Bible it happened to open to one of my favorite passages, Psalm 91.  The very first verse knocks it out of the park“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty”.

There is a Truth found in this verse that is applicable to our time with the Lord. The word dwell means to reside, take up residence, live or perhaps inhabit. To dwell in that place of the Most High means we need to be connected to God through Jesus Christ. We must first know Him as Savior. Then we need to have an ongoing relationship with Him. We can do that through our prayer and daily Bible Study. We commune or fellowship with God. And then the benefit of that intimate relationship with Him is that we can abideor rest under the shadow of the Almighty.

What does that mean? That means we can live continuously in His presence knowing that He is our protector, provider, provision. We can trust Him with everything.

To me, it means that I am covered. I have a layer of protection, grace and mercy over me. Anything that reaches me must go through Him first. I can rest in the assurance of knowing that whatever I encounter He is there.

I have read this verse over and over again. Through some of my most challenging times it has brought solace and peace to me knowing that I am His.

It doesn’t matter what you are going through on this very day, God is covering you. You may me dealing with past regret, sin, health challenges, family problems, work conflict or feelings of despair and loneliness. Take comfort knowing that you can rest under the shadow of the Almighty.

Today I encourage you to really ponder and soak up the Truth of this one verse. Let it soak in to your life and heart. Meditate on it. Dwell in His presence. Let the Word of God minister to you today.

Fun fact: I took this picture nearly a year ago while in Hawaii. Nothing is more peaceful and tranquil than admiring the beauty that the Almighty God has created. Find rest today.
