Have you ever been in that place where you just need a friend? Someone to talk to, the person you can entrust with your deepest and darkest secrets. That friend that won’t judge you in any way. The one who will be honest, yet loving, compassionate and caring. We all long for that person or confidant and many times when we think we have found them, we are disappointed and hurt because that person isn’t there when we need them most.
There isn’t anyone I know that doesn’t have a burden of some kind. It may be a job, money, marital, family or health situation, or a lost loved one. The list can go on and on.
Thankfully, most of us have a good friend or family member that we can share anything with. But even then, sometimes we can feel so alone. Maybe we are too prideful to share our deepest burdens, and we carry them ourselves.
There are times because of our sin that God seems distant or maybe we aren’t spending enough time with Him, but we have a God who stays. He will never leave us nor forsake us. (Hebrews 13:5)
There is a Truth we can hold on to. We have The God Who Stays. I recently heard Matthew West singing this song. The words of the chorus really resonated with me. The words penetrated my heart and reminded me that my confidant and closest friend will always be there.
You’re the God who stays
You’re the God who stays
You’re the one who runs in my direction
When the whole world walks away
You’re the God who stands
With wide open arms
And You tell me nothing I have ever done can separate my heart
From the God who stays
God is always there! It doesn’t matter what we’ve done or where we’ve gone, God is with us. Even if all of our friends have gone away, God is with us.
Be encouraged today. God knows you. He knows your hurts and struggles. No matter what you’re facing or going through, God is staying!
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
Psalm 139:7

Fun fact: A marked Bible can be a window to the soul.
