Seasonal Change

We just celebrated the beginning of Fall. According to the calendar, we are transitioning from summer to fall, but in North Texas, it can seem like summer for quite a while longer. The calendar marks the seasonal date changes that are then followed by visible physical changes, even if they happen slowly.

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I love all things pumpkin and the changing colors of foliage, along with the somewhat cooler temperatures that are to come. But, not every seasonal change is easy. Winter can bring cold and sometimes harsh weather, spring can bring stormy weather and blooming flowers and summer heat can be brutal but show gorgeous scenes. We learn to be prepared for whatever the season may bring.

As we age, we go through seasons in our lives. These seasons are not marked by a date, but rather by circumstances. From birth until death, it is safe to say that we go through seasons of growth and change, both physically and spiritually.

Some seasons are sweet and are marked by some of life’s best moments and blessings. However, some seasons can be tough, harsh and brutal. So, how do you prepare for and embrace those seasons?

We need to remember that the God of hope will be there during every season. It is during the different seasons that we grow, learn, thrive and trust God as He works out His purpose in our lives.

Transitioning from season to season can be beautiful but also difficult at times. Celebrate the beautiful times. During the difficult times lean on Jesus. Remember that the season will change again. Each season is temporary.

Perhaps we can remember things this way. Fall represents change and maturity. Winter can represent isolation, darkness and loneliness. Spring represents rebirth and growth. Summer can represent joy as we see God’s work.

So today, whatever season you may be experiencing, I want to remind you that God is with you. He will not leave you alone. You can’t hide from him. He will carry you through and there will be a beautiful reminder of His work in your life.

Fun fact: This was taken a couple of years ago at a local pumpkin patch. Happy Fall!
